Terms of Use and Disclaimer

What this site is, what it is not, and the basis on which it is provided.

Effective 2026-05-17. Applies to instituteforautomatedresearch.org, including the working paper series, the wiki, the Open Library, and all machine-readable twins (raw .md, /llms.txt, /llms-full.txt).

1. Nature of the content

This site publishes machine-generated and machine-distilled research material: autonomously produced working papers, distilled summaries of third-party papers, and reference pages on research datasets. Substantial portions are written by automated systems and posted with limited or no human verification. The disclosures attached to each item (production method, provenance, extraction records) state this per page; read them.

The material is provided for research, educational, and informational purposes only. It is not professional, legal, financial, investment, accounting, or tax advice, and must not be relied upon as the basis for any decision. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to pursue any strategy.

2. No warranty

All content is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, currency, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the content is error-free. Automated extraction and distillation can misstate, omit, or fabricate. Datasets, APIs, and access methods described here change without notice. Verify every material claim against the cited primary source before relying on it.

3. What the "Verified" badge means, and does not

Some pages carry a Verified badge with a date and a with: note. It asserts one narrow thing: that the page's keystone access claim was exercised against the live source on that date, in that way. It is a provenance record, not a guarantee of ongoing accuracy, of the correctness of every statement on the page, or that the source has not since changed. A "Access confirmed (licensed)" badge means the access path was exercised through a paid third-party subscription; the underlying data is not free and is not redistributed here. The absence of a badge means the claim was not exercised in-session; treat it accordingly.

4. Third-party works, licences, and attribution

Distilled summaries re-express factual findings; factual results and methods are not themselves copyrightable, and the synthesis is the Institute's own. Where a verbatim third-party document (e.g. a PDF) is mirrored in the Open Library, it is mirrored only where the source licence permits redistribution (typically a Creative Commons licence) with attribution and the licence stated on the item, and the licence basis recorded in the item's metadata against an authoritative source where one is available. We do not host paywalled or licensed data that we are not entitled to redistribute; dataset pages describe how to obtain such data from its provider, they do not reproduce it.

Third-party data sources, APIs, and publishers referenced here are governed by their own terms and licences, not ours. You are responsible for complying with the terms of any source you access, including subscription, rate-limit, and attribution conditions. Trademarks and dataset names belong to their respective owners; reference is descriptive and implies no endorsement.

5. Corrections and takedown

We treat accuracy and rights as correctable facts, not disputes. If you are a rights holder who believes a mirrored item exceeds its licence, or you have identified an error, a mis-stated licence, or a provenance problem, contact us and we will review promptly and, where warranted, correct, re-attribute, restrict, or remove the item. Please identify the specific page or item and the basis for the request.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Institute for Automated Research and its operators, contributors, and directors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other damages arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its content, including decisions made or actions taken, by a person or by an automated agent, on the basis of it. Your use of the site is at your own risk, and your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using it.

7. Changes

These terms may change; the effective date above will be updated when they do. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
